Cool Sounds, Lake Cruise at Notti Jazz Fest

Notti Jazz Fest in Big Bear LakeThree great days of hot jazz and cool blues are back on track June 17-19 with the inaugural Notti Jazz Fest.

Friday night jazz cruise aboard, Saturday night headliner Jackiem Joyner, a free show on the courtyard patio and more is on tap. Many of the performers were favorites at the long-running JazzTrax Festival held the same weekend in Big Bear presented by Art Good, and he’ll be around for Notti Jazz Fest.

Join Steve Oliver aboard Miss Liberty Friday, June 17 for a 5:30 p.m. cruise. Oliver is a JazzTrax veteran who has dominated Billboard’s jazz instrumental charts and now he’s released an all-vocal album. His sound will be sweet and serene as the lake breezes with tickets $40-$50.

Friday night at 8:30 sees national artist Will Donato upstairs in the tavern at Nottinghams. called him a “must-see show” and he’ll be up close at Nottinghams. His current single “Jay Walkin’ “ is #1 Most Added and as it happens produced by Oliver. Donato has played with Al McKay of Earth Wind and Fire, Bruce Conte from Tower of Power, and  Steve Reid from The Rippingtons.

Chris Standring performs Saturday 2:30 p.m. outside on the beautiful patio.  His 1998 album “Velvet” vaulted him onto the scene and hits include “Bossa Blue” which went to #1 on contemporary jazz radio across the country and stayed there for nine straight weeks, earning it 2010 track of the year honors.

Jackiem Joyner takes the stage at Saturday at 8:30 p.m. Twice Joyner has hit the top spot in the Billboard charts with two more Top 3 appearances during a career that continues to “Evolve,” as he shows on his fifth album. His gentle sax stars on songs like the up-tempo “Generation Next.:

Joyner  has headlined the Lexus Hyatt Regency Jazz Festival in Newport Beach, Jazz on the Green in Ft. Myers, Fla. and the Atlanta Smooth Jazz Festival. Other appearances include the Denver Jazz and Blues Festival, and Good’s Catalina Island JazzTrax Festival.

Mike Cross , Big Bear’s “Piano Man” who has played The Cave, Music in the Mountains and other venues, performs a free show on the courtyard patio Sunday at noon. Seating is first come, first served.
